Rocky Mountain High

What better way to begin the summer than by visiting friends and family? Cassie and I visited Denver and Winter Park, Colorado for about a week and visited our friend (and musician) John Statz along with his girlfriend Heidi and friend Emma. Suffice it to say, we had a blast! We checked out downtown Denver, visited Red Rocks, and went to a hot springs resort and soaked in what are more-or-less natural hot tubs. We also spent an afternoon hiking in the Rocky Mountains and had a pretty close encounter with a moose! I also tried my first Rocky Mountain Oyster (I’ll let you look it up if you don’t know what they are). Denver also has a great arts district that we were able to visit before we flew home.

It was the kind of trip that managed to be both busy and relaxing in all the best ways. After returning home, we got to visit Cassie’s sister and husband in Milwaukee, then went home to attend Cassie’s youngest sister’s high-school graduation party (she will be attending college at UW-Stout) and my grandma’s 80th birthday party. We are also excited that my brother and his fiancee are now living in an apartment in Milwaukee. Yes, it was a busy couple of weeks! Below are a few of the fantastic pictures taken by Cassie. You can see all of them on her Flickr page. Also be sure to check out her blog for all the finer details.
