Elainie Lillios’ Concert: A Huge SuccessSeptember 28th, 2008
Last Thursday, myself along with our Graduate Assistant Evan Merz and several other students got an early start by helping Professor Lillios with an 8.1 channel electroacoustic concert setup, which included a piece with Ambisonic decoding.

Dr. Lillios began preceeded her concert that eveining with a lecture about her history in electroacoustic music, and shared with us some of the background on the pieces that would be presented at the concert. One particular story involved her experience with composer Bebe Barron, which you can see in this video posted by Evan Merz.

The concert itself was not only packed, there were people overflowing into the hallway! I was given the position of Dr. Lillios’ “right hand man”, essentially meaning that I start pieces when directed and pray that nothing goes wrong. The concert featured multichannel works, along with a piece for voice and percussion and a piece involving live instrumental composition in Max/MSP performed by Steve Duke. It was an exciting day and a fantastic concert.
